some wovens inspired by navajo blankets.

these are some wovens I weaved during the fall on a 8 harness floor dobby loom.  these samples are much larger than shown, each are about 20x15 or so.  it took weeks to do but it was worth it in the end, the samples that i created i was very pleased with.  i was inspired by navajo blankets, the geometric motifs, patterns, colors the navajo people used in their own woven blankets.

think.

think stamps. think paints.
i took lyno and cut it into a designs which i used as a stamp (the black triangles and squares).  i used Q-tips as the white dots and then i used a technique called dry brush which makes the hard painterly like streaks.  This all created depth into this piece.
think new things. think new ideas.  think.

this is called BATIK wax resistant -pre-wash fabric. -pour hot bees wax anywhere on fabric. -let wax dry. -paint with dyes. -dry fabric. -remove wax by placing fabric between two pieces of newspaper and iron.  and either done or repeat for more designs... you will love it.

tea staining paper...

earlier today i tea-stained a piece of arches water color paper. it is a great way to make a brand new clean white watercolor paper age quickly to look almost ancient to the eye.
-hot tea, sponge brush, watercolor paper.

an oldie but a goodie...

I used to dislike floral prints but now I absolutely love them.  not the painting them part or even creating them because it is quite difficult to come out with a great layout for floral prints.  Anyways I will get to my point.. this was one of my first floral prints that was created with gouche.  I used dark tones because I did not want the natural look of a flower yet I wanted a more graphic look.  I also created depth in the background which I  think makes the flowers stand out in a sense.  Still one of my favorites!

screen printed t*shirts..((The PEKING collection))

Overall today was a good day.  I spend my day knitting and eating plenty of yummy salad but in the evening was when the creating happened. I got to screen print on t*shirt.  I used different images that I created on photoshop, then printed on vellum and transferred on some silk screens.  I then mixed some vibrant neon and metallic inks and overlapped the different screens on top or each other.  Anyways, I am pretty pleased with the outcome.  Let me know what you think?  If you want any just let me know, I am willing to make any design in any color t*shirt or tank top or what not.  Just let me know.

trippy inspiration... Not my designs.. i wish they were though. (pretty inspiring pieces)

...collage.  it is a lost art.  people see this and just think 'oh i could do that' but really it is a lot harder than it looks.  I use collage all the time as a textile designer but these pieces that i found on weheartit.com really stood out to me.  some of the artist even created a 3 dimensional look to a 2 dimensional cut out.  these pieces inspire me to make an awesome collage textile.

squares, so many squares (my design)

same design in a different color scheme.  gouche with a dry brush. made for an apparel textile but can be used for a decorative textile. oddly enough theses pieces were inspired by a disney movie.

not my design but a great inspiration- found on weheartit .com (check that out kiddies)

this is not one of my designs but I tend to get inspired by random collages and doodles.  i absolutely love finding pictures on weheartit.com check it out! believe me you will love that website. not only do the vibrant colors draw my attention but the old school looking map makes me inspired to make a textile design.

one of my drawings of molecules?

dated: 2009. inspiration: molecules. medium: photoshop. This is intended to be a printed design but I would love to see this as a jacquard woven.  The textures the yarns could make together can really add detail to this design.
